The Benefits of Balloon Guards

Do you need balloon guards? Picture this… Your roof has a huge surface area which acts like a slide for water. The majority of roofs have moss, leaves and other debris lying on them, with our Scottish weather the wind and rain wash the moss, leaves, twigs and other debris in to your gutters. The gutter collects all this on a daily basis and in the meantime the water carries all the debris along the gutter and in to the down pipes then in to the underground drain.
Blocked down pipes and drains are the single most common reason why gutters overflow and this is because a constant supply of debris is able to compact densely in the underground drain or down pipe, creating a blockage water has trouble passing through.
Balloon guards are a simple solution to prevent blockages, they act like filters stopping debris from entering the down pipes and drains which would result in blockages in the down pipe or drain. Balloon guards are not fitted as standard on gutters for some strange reason. Balloon guards are simple and easily fitted in most cases yet provide peace of mind for the property owner/tenant

Note: When the balloon guards are installed over time the debris does build up around the down pipe / balloon guard; for optimal performance these should be checked / cleaned every 6/12 months.
